You know you are a nerd when…

... you are trying to decide whether figure skating, ice dancing, racecar driving, boxing, and chess are sports or not.

Other than deciding if someone belongs to the “Sports Hall of Fame” (if such a thing exists), who cares?  If you move figure skating from one classification to another, does that lessen (or improve) your enjoyment of the activity?  Does it help you understand the activity any more or less?  What exactly does the construction of the definition do, other than create a classification system for the sake of it?
