Yankees outfield fielding alignment

...it’s probably best to leave Granderson in center. It should keep him more comfortable as he settles into life as a Yankee and it saves him from having to switch positions again should the club choose to add another left fielder later this year

Right, that’s the #1 thing: since Granderson is far likelier to be the full-time outfielder, it doesn’t make sense to have the guy most willing to be replaced in CF… not unless you bring in a fielder that is even better than Granderson.  So, if you have a really good hitter who is a really good fielder, you put him in CF, even if you might even have someone who is a better fielder than he is.

On top of which, given that there’s not much to choose from between the two to begin with (fielding-wise), it makes the decision even easier.  The more interesting question is whether to put Gardner or Swisher in RF as FY points out.  The fans see their arms as a wash, while UZR sees a big gap in favor of Gardner.  So, we lean toward Gardner as having the better arm.  That’s the discussion that should take place, not Granderson to LF.
