Where are teams putting their best and worst infielder?

By Tangotiger, 03:26 PM

I looked at the Fans Scouting Report, identified the regular at each position, and determined the position of the best infielder (between 2B, SS, 3B).

Best infielder:
SS: 15 teams
3B: 3 teams
2B: 2 teams
no clear leader: 10 teams

Worst infielder:
3B: 10 teams
2B: 5 teams
SS: 5 teams
no clear leader: 10 teams

This is what it looks like in terms of W/L record:
SS: 15-5, 10 middle = 0.667 win%
2B: 2-5, 23 middle = 0.450 win%
3B: 3-10, 17 middle = 0.383 win%

If we compare just 2B to 3B, 12 teams have the better fielder at 2B and 8 at 3B (with 10 teams as no clear leader)

So, based on Fans response, it looks like the 2B is a bit ahead of the 3B.  If you were to construct run values where the average is zero, it would be something like this:
4: SS
-1: 2B
-3: 3B
