What’s good for local politics is not good for federal politics: Ron Paul v Gov Christie
I’m always fascinated by how local people react to the guy they know, and then that guy is launched onto the federal stage. Ron Paul is a 12-time elected congressman. I can only presume that his district loves him. Governor Christie (the tough guy) is well liked in NJ (pre-being governor). As Governor, though? Not so much. Guys like him, and women can’t stand him.
But, launch both onto the national stage, and Paul is apparently a joke, while Christie would not only challenge Romney, but possibly win. Christie is a bull, and what let him be voted in the first place in NJ (before his bully ways grates on people) would let him be on the ballot for President.
After all is said and done however, President Christie would be as unloved as Governor Christie. And, possibly, President Paul would be as loved as Congressman Paul.
Or, do we believe that Ron Paul basically can crush Triple A pitching, but can’t handle the show? While Chris Christie is Willie Bloomquist who somehow has managed to make himself a career in MLB?
Explain to me why you can’t translate local affinity to national affinity.
