What does Ortiz have that Vlad and Hideki don’t have?

By Tangotiger, 10:37 AM

The market for good-not-great hitters (1.5 WAR) was established in the off-season with Vlad and Hideki: one year, and 6MM$.  Vlad has been on fire, and Hideki has.. not.  Together?  Just about right.  Johnny Damon set the market for a good hitter who can also play the field at 8MM$.

Myron makes the case for the most optimistic forecast for David Ortiz.  Just going on gut instinct, I’d be shocked if he could even get a 2/12MM$ deal.
