The length of playoff games
J-Doug says:
All else being equal in 2009, LDS games lasted an additional 39:41, LCS games another 42:38, and World Series games another 40:17.
If I understand what he did, he simply added dummy playoff parameters, and ended up getting those numbers. Playoffs probably add 17 minutes of extra commercials, meaning that the other 23 minutes is the players themselves slowing the game down. Which is weird, because playoff baseball is great. I guess when you are watching something intensely, the non-action time doesn’t really bother you.
What’s it like for NFL, NBA, and NHL? I’d say for NHL, playoff games are faster. Just a guess, as it seems that there’s fewer faceoffs (and so, fewer yucky-stoppages in play).
