The impact of the great defenseman
I did something similar when I looked at how many runs a team gives up when a great SS is or is not playing. Gabriel shows us how many goals a team gives up when a good defenseman is or is not playing:
...the teams of the “Better +/-” defensemen allowed 15.5 fewer goals per 82 games when they were playing. One-quarter of this change was due to reducing the volume of shots allowed, but the rest is due to better save percentage.
