The best short-career CF of our generation

By Tangotiger, 11:42 AM

Boy did Kirby Puckett get lucky with his HOF induction.  There is not much separating him from Jim Edmonds, Fred Lynn, and Andruw Jones.  Here was the criteria I used: From 1969 to 2008, Played 50% of games at CF, requiring PA>=7500, PA<=8000, and OPS+ >=110 .  If you consider Edmonds, Lynn, and Andruw all borderline cases, Puckett must be in the same boat.  And Andruw might be the greatest fielding CF of the post-expansion era.  It’s all in the perception of Puckett going out on top, while Andruw (possibly) going out rock-bottom.
