Teaching sabermetrics at school
Jim Albert is a professor involved in sabermetrics. We’ve probably brought him up around here once or twice. Anyway, he has a book that he uses to teach. So, that links gives you his Amazon book (pricey for us, but standard for students at the mercy of supply/demand). He’s got lots of stuff on his site that you can download or read. Here’s sample from his book.
I remember reading his career trajectory paper when it came out, and I offered unsolicited peer review. The main issue I had with that paper is when he started comparing individual players, without adjusting for the year’s run environment. Otherwise, it was a pretty good read. If there is anything else that strikes your interest in any of his links, please post a link and comment.
