Tangotiger = ESPN Blogger

By Tangotiger, 05:55 PM

Yes, it’s true.  My first blog post is “How much is Derek Jeter worth?" Here’s the peamble:

Derek Jeter is entering the final season of a 10-year, $189 million contract he signed in 2001, and every baseball fan is wondering the same thing: How big will his next contract be? To answer that, we need to figure out how good we think he will be from 2011 onward. One way to determine this is to use a metric called WAR (Wins Above Replacement), which I helped develop and accounts for hitting, fielding and baserunning. BaseballProjection.com has the annual WAR for all players through 2009, and the numbers can be used to put Jeter’s future value in context.

It’s only for ESPN subscribers.  However, if I create a pay-site on Tangotiger.net, I can post my blog there as well.  I’ll measure the temperature on that one tomorrow to see if I should bother selling my soul.  I’ve got a couple of ideas on that, and hopefully one of them will be good.

I expect to make a couple of blog posts a week for them.  I already have one in the pipeline for Wednesday.  These are going to be 250-500 word blog posts.
