Star Trek 79

By Tangotiger, 02:40 PM

There were 79 episodes of Star Trek, the original.  Back in the day, I knew every episode title.  Not in order mind you.  But I knew in which of the three seasons each was in.  I thought that was good.  Apparently, that is nothing.  Incredibly, there is a contest to see who can say it the fastest and in order.  And would you believe it was done in under 100 seconds?  I don’t think I could READ it that fast, never mind saying it from memory.

As impressive as I thought I was, I’m in awe of my kid.  He not only knows the title of all 300 or so SpongeBob episodes, but he can tell you the name of the episode by the episode’s theme music.  For those who don’t watch it, right after the main theme song, there’s about a two second or three second theme music to each episode.  And he nails it each time.  This either means I should be very proud of him for being able to merge his memory and his musical talent, or I should be locked up for letting my kid watch SpongeBob so much.

SpongeBob by the way is a great show, one of the best episodic shows ever on TV.  I’ll put it up there with All in the Family, The Simpsons, and Homicide.  And Star Trek, natch.
