Should you be allowed to praise our President in school?

By , 06:23 PM

Most of you have probably read about the New Jersey elementary “singing the praises of Obama” controversy.  Some parents and obviously lots of conservatives feel that schools/teachers should not be expressing their political views in school and should certainly not be teaching their kids to adopt their views.

At first I thought, “They have a point.”

Admittedly I have not watched the video of the song, but then I thought, “Wait, Obama IS our President, right?  Is there anything wrong with teaching our kids to praise our President?” Is that “Expressing a political viewpoint?” Have we become so polarized with our two-party system that you can’t praise a President who was duly elected without being accused of ‘prostheletizing’?
