“Sh-t My Dad Says”
Non-sports post.
In order to obscure a word that every kid from the age of 5 onwards uses, but is somehow offensive to some American adults, they’ve decided to rename a show by using stand-in characters.
Because that has got to be the best-ever use of bleep symbols to spell out exactly what they’re supposedly obscuring.
S is now $, and h is now #, and I’m ok with those. But they decided to use ! for the letter t. I always use it for the letter i. I mean, it’s an upside down i, how hard could that be. As for obscuring the letter t, why not +.
So, I’m in favor of $#!+, and not $#*!, but I have to admit [with as dry a tone as I can muster] that the * is alot harsher than +. Imagine the discussion meeting on that one.
How idiotic is it that we are stooping to obscuring all letters in a word, or getting the producers of Meet the Fockers to prove that there actually is a family out there in America with the name Fockers? The next generation is going to laugh itself silly at us.
***
As for my need to obscure, unfortunately, I’m beholden to software filters and search engines that look for those words.
