Sexy or sexist?
Video below the fold.
Laraque expresses his regret and takes the blame, and tries to put it in perspective that he does tons of off-ice promotions for the communities, and he donates all his money for it, including for this commercial (article in french). The troubling part is that this is 7% alcoholic breverage, not the girls. And here’s more from the enforcer:
During a visit to a children’s hospital, he was struck with how the brief visit with team captain Doug Weight brought such joy to a young boy dying of cancer. At that moment, he said, he became humbled by the power of hockey notoriety and vowed to use it to do good works of his own.
As his star rose in Edmonton, Laraque made regular visits to the Stollery Children’s Hospital when nurses called him up on his cellphone with requests. He did a public awareness campaign for Shaken Baby Syndrome, and he started a program of “home visits,” accepting invitations from hockey fans in poorer parts of the city and who had no hope of ever seeing an Oilers game in person.
“One family would invite me and when I got there, there would be 30 or 40 people,” Laraque said.
