Sabermetrics lives!

By Tangotiger, 09:03 PM

Willie Bloomquist went on a tear to start 2011.  Everyone was on the “it’s a new Francoeur” bandwagon.  People are so desperate to find trends, they always think they found one.

In Frenchy’s last 200 PA, he has .232 / .285 / .343 line.  Where are all the trendspotters now?

In Mr Replacement Level’s first 7 games, he had a .394 / .429 / .545 line.  In the 102 PA since, he’s at .213 / .257 / .277.

This is not an “I told you so”.  It’s a “stop looking for trends” post.  Just stop!  There is no story, other than something happened.  It has virtually no predictive value.  So stop talking like it’s predictive.
