Roy Halladay’s surplus value

By Tangotiger, 03:31 PM

An excellent analysis by Sky using expected WAR, salaries, and prospect value

An interesting proposal I read was packaging Vernon Wells with Roy Halladay.  Basically, trade Halladay and Wells… for nothing!  Indeed, the Jays probably win that deal.

Wells had a fantastic 4 year run in 2003-06, that culminated with his huge signing (he was probably a 3.5, maybe 4.0 WAR player, who had signed a 4.5 WAR contract).  What he’s done since 2007 is nothing short of a complete meltdown.
