Rounding errors in yardage gained
I ALSO have had this thought for, well, decades really. The first part of Kincaid’s article can be summarized that the error is equal to .289 times the sqrt(number of plays). The more interesting part is the probability that one guy actually gained more yards than the other guy, because of rounding errors.
