Rioting: a Montreal tradition

By Tangotiger, 03:06 PM

Again.

Montreal is fairly distinct in that the major corporate office, a string of retail stores and restaurants, museums and arenas are all located downtown, which itself is easily accessible via Le Metro (subway).  Basically, downtown is a natural magnet for every type of person in or off the island of Montreal.  Think of it like Manhattan, if half the businesses of Manhattan were compressed between Port Authority, Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal, while the subways and trains criss-crossing all over the place.  There’s a party going on, you know exactly where the party is going on, everyone is invited, and there’s going to be little that can stop you.  It’s a testament to the good people of Montreal that they can be so civilized while the hoodlums eventually let loose.
