Rink Bias
If you guys think that there’s stringer bias in baseball, that’s nothing compared to what you’ll find in the NHL. The first time I started compiling NHL stats, the NY Rangers stats hit me over the head like a pile driver. The good thing about the hockey stats is that the bias is so strong, so prevalent, that you are required to adjust the stats. This is unlike baseball where the bias is not so pervasive, and so, lulls you into thinking that you don’t need to adjust.
