Poll Results: Most Outstanding Players of 2009

By Tangotiger, 01:42 PM

Thank you to all those who participated in the poll (still ongoing, but results are now official).  We received around 250-300 votes.

The most oustanding pitcher of 2009, in a landslide, was Zach Greinke (getting 91% of the vote).  Runner up was Tim Lincecum (who got 46% of the remaining, non-Greinke, votes), who was far ahead of Felix Hernandez (with 28% of the non-Greinke votes).

The most outstanding nonpitcher of 2009, in what turned into a two-man race (the two players accounted for 92% of the vote), was Albert Pujols, edging out Joe Mauer.

Albert Pujols was the landslide winner of 2008 (with79% of the votes), with Grady Sizemore finishing #2.  Cliff Lee edged out CC Sabathia and Tim Lincecum for top pitcher in 2008.
