That Pete Rose only managed to get part of Fosse (his left shoulder) is a testament to Rose’s respect on this play.
Fosse was directly between the plate and Rose, and Rose had none of the plate available to him. And STILL, instead of a takeout slide, he stayed completely in the foul area, and only made contact with part of Fosse.
