Performance by men on base / bases empty, by era, by pitcher role
I looked at the bases empty / runners on scenario broken by era (1950-1968, 1969-1992, 1993-2010), and by starter/relief. For relievers, they have the same performance empty / runner in the first two era, and they had a worse performance with men on base 1993-2010. For starters, the performance with men on base has been getting worse each era. In Runs Created terms, comparing runners on to bases empty: it’s 2% worse performance 1950-1968, 3% worse 1969-1992, 4% worse 1993-2010.
