Out for being out of the batter’s box?

By Tangotiger, 02:11 PM

Mike shows the rule for being out of the box as “6.06 A batter is out for illegal action when— (a) He hits a ball with one or both feet on the ground entirely outside the batter’s box...”

And he shows this, as a batter is about to be hit:

But, as far as I read the rule, the batter is allowed to be out of the batter’s box as long as he doesn’t make contact with the bat on the ball.  Indeed, what’s to stop the batter from standing right on home plate, as long as he makes an effort to get out of the way of the pitched ball and doesn’t hinder the catcher?

Am I reading the rule wrong?
