New QB rating from ESPN

By Tangotiger, 12:06 PM

If Dean Oliver does it, it gains a fair measure of credibility.  But look at the comments: if it’s sponsored by ESPN, then the reader is more apprehensive.  That they are rolling it out as part of some fanfare adds to that view.

In any case, I’ll evaluate it on its merits when I see it (or, realistically, let Brian Burke do it first, and then I’ll just add on top of that).  From the sounds of it, it would be an RE24 type of stat, if not WPA/LI.  I’m also going to presume that Football Outsiders must already have this kind of stat already.  Am I right?

I’d especially like to see this kind of stat for running backs.
