Neifi Perez, 2002: Worst Hitting Season of All-Time?

By Tangotiger, 04:57 PM

It’s not often you live with 420 outs from a MLB hitter who has as bad production as this guy.  He also made nearly 200 of those outs in the first two slots in the lineup.  Anyway, you start off with his pathetic hitting, which was -3.7 wins if you don’t account for his pathetic hitting with men on base, in which case we’re now at -4.9 wins, if you don’t account for his really pathetic hitting in late&close situations, in which case we are now at -6.3 wins, compared to the average hitter.  That trifecta, terrible hitting and with men on base and in crucial situations, is hard to beat.  Congratulations to Neifi Perez, 2002, the complete opposite of Derek Jeter, 2006.
