Michael Lewis
This post will make no point other than to express my admiration.
About six or seven years ago (exactly whenever I published my three-part Runs Created series), I got a call from some guy named Michael Lewis. I’ve spoken to him exactly that one time for about thirty minutes. We’ve had very very limited contact since then, with probably about half-a-dozen occasions in emails since then. He even was helpful when we were shopping for publishers for our book, and he put me in touch with his editor and some well-known venture capitalist who self-published his own book. I just sent him a quick email a few hours ago, and he responded almost immediately; he is always like this. He’s like the athlete who will stay in the bitter cold, just to sign that autograph for that one kid he’ll never see again.
I’m basically a nobody, and Lewis is a star. And yet, he’s as cordial to me as any person could be. If only more people could have his good graces.
