LEGO Games: One Minute Review

By Tangotiger, 10:31 PM

If you guys with kids or nephews/nieces don’t know about LEGO Games, you don’t know what you are missing.  It’s a combination of Lego toys and dice-playing games.  The single best toy you can buy your little love one.

This thread will give you my reviews, as we have at least a dozen of these games.

The #1 game, by far, is Meteor Strike.

After you have finished building the lego pieces and board, and that’s fun just on its own, you then get to play the game.  And the game is always different each time you play.  That’s because you get to move pieces around.  You have to drop a ball, and it moves around like a pinball.  There’s strategy in where to place various pieces, or to remove pieces.  Loads of fun.  You cannot go wrong with this one.

A really cool game is Ninjago.  As usual, plenty of Lego building fun to start off with.  When that’s done, you can play.  In this game, everyone plays on the same team, and you try to defeat the villain.  The idea is that if the Ninjas can work together, they have a much better chance at winning, than if they fight separately.  So, it gets a plus for me because it’s the one game that doesn’t put the kiddies into competition against each other.

Finally, a personal favorite is Wild Wool.  The Lego building is at a real minimum, as you build some sheep, and a wolf.  But, it plays alot like a card game, as you build up the wool on your sheep, you swap the sheep, you steal wool from the sheep.  If you love playing cards, then you’ll like playing this game.  It requires minimal setup, so it’s a great game to even have for the back seat if you are driving (just roll the dice in the box).

The best part about LEGO games overall is that once they are built… they stay built!  No more lego pieces all over the place, no more just a mound of lego pieces doing nothing.  Here, it’s built, and then you use and reuse.  Obviously, he still has his regular lego pieces to be all creative.  This is just something on the side that gives you all the benefits of your typical board game, but it’s Lego.

Whoever thought this up over there at Lego was a genius.
