Eric looks for comparables, and comes away with a short list.

The important parameter required is scouting.  Because without that, it will change our regression point.  When Marcel looks at Adam Everett and Barry Bonds, it uses the same regression point for hitting.  Which doesn’t make any sense, but only because we see the way Bonds and Everett approach and execute each at bat.  If Bautista 2008 and 2010 are two different hitters, scouting will tell us that.  But scouting has to make that determination without prior knowledge of the performance numbers.
