John Dewan and First Basemen Scoops

In Dewan’s “stat of the day” feature, he gives us the number of “scoops” made by some first baseman in 2008 and 2009 and discusses the stat a little.

Someone on BTF wrote: For this to be even more useful, we’d have to know the number of times 1Bmen *didn’t* successfully scoop a throw in the dirt.

How about, “For this to be useful at all...”

That’s kind of like “how many ground balls each fielder fields....”
