Intangibles only count if you see results after the fact… d’uh
Great little piece here. So, the Mets (and more importantly, the media), decided that they needed intangibles. The Mets (and more importantly, the media) agree that Frenchy had intangibles coming out of every orifice of his body. The Mets (and more importantly, the media) realized that Frenchy didn’t do sh!t. The Mets (and more importantly, the media) didn’t give themselves an L on that one.
And yet, still, the media is going to play the intangibles card until they see a tangible effect. This is like going to Vegas, playing a dubious strategy, losing ten times, finally winning once, and then declaring that the dubious strategy worked. Instead of being 1-10, they see it as 0-10, and then 1-0. And soon, just 1-0.
If intangibles was all that, teams would pay for it. And when teams have a chance to do so, they never do.
