I am not a sabermetrician

According to Phil, what I do is analytics. Indeed, one sports company I used to work for was called something Analytics. I sometimes describe what I do as quantitative analyst.

I think the term sabermetrician (or saberist… I don’t particularly like the longer word) is probably a misnomer. As Phil notes, a saberist is just the subset of various other jobs (economics, statistics, etc).

The key is that we are SPORTS quants. So, saberist is in effect the word we have to describe a sports quantitative analyst.

But, I can pretty much accept whatever word the broader community would prefer.
