How to talk about small sample sizes
Since MGL took Neyer to task earlier, I’ll defend him here with what basically becomes the three sentences that everyone needs to utter when talking about sample sizes:
Essentially, Feldman is a No. 3 or No. 4 starter with a No. 1 starter’s record and a No. 2 starter’s ERA. Hey, it happens. If it’s one of your guys, you enjoy the ride and make your plans accordingly.
If you can stipulate to the Neyer doctrine, we can move passed this issue.
