How to definitely tell if the team you support is an extension of the old, or the start of a new:

By Tangotiger, 02:11 PM

The third-best way: do the fans of the old team follow or support the new team?

The second-best way: does the new team respect the retired numbers of the old team?  Does it highlight those numbers to its fans?

The best-way: does it honor the Cup or World Championships of the old team?  Will it say that their next championship is their first?

In what way do the Washington Nationals honor the Expos history the way it would honor its own?  Do the Devils honor the KC Scouts?  Or, it is simply at most a nod to its past, on its way to starting something new?

The Montreal Expos franchise died in 2004.  And it can be resurrected only if a new team comes back to Montreal.
