How much is a minor league system worth?

By Tangotiger, 03:21 PM

Tag-teaming all over the place (Sickels grades, Victor values, BtB assigns values, dougdirt compiles), and we get that the average minor league team is worth 100 million dollars.  Or what Evan Longoria is approximately worth.  This chart is also useful:

Team     A     A-     B+     B     B-     C+
H     Value     32.5     22.3     20.8     12.6     4.9     0.88
P     Value     14.2     14.2     14.2     9.8     6.5     2.6

First you’ll notice that TINSTAAPP rears its head here, as the top 60 pitching prospects are pretty much interchangeable.  Secondly, you’ll notice that no pitcher should get a tag of “A”.  Pretty much, they should top out as a “B+” grade.  Basically, you’ve got over 100 pitchers, and they all get a B+ or B grade.  Yes, I know it’s not sexy to do that, but that’s the reality of it.
