Fun time-waster: Sabermetric inventor quiz

By Tangotiger, 11:20 AM

I got an email (as did THT) to try out this quiz.

I couldn’t spell Rany’s last name, couldn’t remember what ARP is, not aware of Strand Rate, and couldn’t remember Graham’s last name.  I was proud that I could spell Dan S’s last name on the first try.

I think Pete Palmer needs the credit for “Linear Weights”, even if the guy they selected was a precursor (but of a different name), and F.C. Lane predates them both by several decades anyway.  Otherwise, you’d have to apply the same standard to Total Average.  Whoever coined the term gets the “invention”, even if it built on work from others before him.
