Florida Sports Demographics

By Tangotiger, 05:42 PM

Here is a three-part (so far) series on the demographics of florida sports fans.

The Part 2 interests me: there are 472,600 adults in the tri-county area that has attended at least 1 Heat basketball game in the last 12 months.  There were 188,700 Panthers hockey attendees.  Both teams have around the same number of home games (Heat had the playoff bonus), while I will presume that attendance at the Heat games is probably a couple of thousand more.  The Heat attendance is about 4,000 more than the Panthers attendance, per game, or 164,000 more fans.  It still seems like a huge gap.  It’s likely that hockey fans are more passionate than basketball fans.  If they were to report number of games, I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of games per fan would be much higher skewed for hockey fans.
