Evaluating the trades of Neal Huntington

By Tangotiger, 04:34 PM

Fantastic roll-up-your-sleeves work.

Pirates received: 16 WAR, $70.4 DOLLAR, $25.0 SALARY
Pirates traded away: 45.2 WAR, $188.9 DOLLAR, $117.7 SALARY

They saved 93MM$ in salary, and it cost them 29 wins in the process.  That’s an ok enough trade.  You’d like to have lost a few less wins, but, generally speaking, it’s not so bad.

To improve on this work, you have to account for future expectations (until free agency).
