Don’t leave the High School bonus, and go to college first

By Tangotiger, 09:25 AM

I like the idea and approach here, but I’m having a devil of a time following exactly what he did.

This is what I’m hoping he did: he looked at all players who were drafted out of high school, but did not sign (and, preferably, did NOT give out their intention to not sign… otherwise, they would be drafted lower).  Then, of ALL those players who did not sign, and REGARDLESS if they were drafted out of college, he adds up the total signing bonuses those players received (if any).

What I would also have liked to see is how many players threw a snake eyes.  How many players simply were undrafted after returning back to college.  Perhaps there’s a good reason (they were drafted out of the NFL or NBA instead; they choose a new vocation, but not because of injury).

Anyway, I love that Reed has brought this issue to light.
