Denkinger’s Law
One of the things that the legal system does right is that when there is a tragedy that could have been averted, or at least drastically lessened, a law will soon be proposed and then adopted, under the name of the affected person. Megan’s Law or Miranda Warning (Mirandized) for example.
MLB moves at a glacial pace in comparison. While Joyce’s Law is inevitable, it should really be named Denkinger’s Law. You guys may think that Joyce blew it, but in comparison to other blown calls (peripherals aside), it wasn’t that bad. The Denkinger call was much worse. Not only was the runner (Iorg I think) even more out than Galaragga’s runner, but this was for the World Series.
I don’t really care about what an official rule book calls official. To me, Pedro pitched a perfect game, and David Palmer pitched a perfect game. Who cares what someone officially calls it. But the very outcome of a game?
Denkinger’s Law please. Its been 25 years, which is right around the time that MLB wakes up to solve problems.
