David Schoenfield hates the Expos
I had all the caps as strikeouts, singles, or doubles. Except for the Expos, which was a Homerun. Now, before you consider me a… errr… homer, 42% of ESPN readers also gave it a HR and only 9% gave it a strikeout, for a +33% differential. How that qualifies as one of the 10 worst caps ever, who knows. Here are the current results:
+33 1982 Expos
+17 1979 Orioles
+8 1975 Redsox
+4 1970 Angels
-8 1974 Braves
-9 1989 Mariners
-13 1980 Astros
-28 1979 Pirates
-48 1998 Devil Rays
-50 1983 White Sox
It was a good job on remembering the White Sox cap, but how did the Expos get in there? Certainly this caption is obviated:
“The cap is much-loved and much-despised, it seems.”
Seems by who? It seems by David Schoenfield mostly. On the other hand, I should be thankful that the Expos were remembered. Thanks David for squashing one more Expos myth.
