Cuba-Canada relations

Omar Linares was a star player in Cuba, apparently a cross between Brooks Robinson and Mike Schmidt. The Jays had the idea to make him play 81 games a year (in Canada). But, Canada seemed intent on bending over to US policies, even on matters such as this. Linares was reported as stating that defection was akin to treason.
