Will Carroll

By Tangotiger, 09:43 AM

Will Carroll has left BPro.  Dave Pease gives him the eulogy, which is unique, as I don’t remember anyone getting that kind of sendoff over there.  Either the author has given himself his own sendoff, or they just disappear with nary a word.

since Nate left, Will was my favorite there, by far. I will miss him.

Damage control, clearly. They saw the crushing they took, both on their own site and others, when Joe Sheehan left. Carroll’s is worse since he’s doing it under such bad terms. Carroll was supposedly signed through next year. Either he’s got a bigger deal ready to go or it’s going to look bad for everyone.  Pease says they have someone coming in to do injuries too - anyone want to bet they have a deal in place with ESPN for that?

bad terms? What was going on with Carroll and BP?

I know it’s not really fair, but when I see “network of sources”, I can’t help but think of the Pete Rose fiasco…

It already had gotten ugly when Carroll disappeared for a couple of weeks right in the middle of the Strasburg injury mania. Who knows what happened behind the scenes and there’s no point in assigning blame. But BP got rightly crucified for not providing any information as to why a regular column (and a major reason why many people subscribe) suddenly disappeared in the middle of the season, or more importantly, when it might return.
