The Book reviewed in Great Britain

By Tangotiger, 11:49 AM

A nice review, to which he provides a conclusion in the comments section of this blog.

And yes, we had nothing to do with any of the editing in the reprint version published by Potomac.  We had everything to do with the editing in the original self-published version.  The content was supposed to be 100% identical.

Anyway, it looks like an interesting site apart from that entry, so I’ll check it out…

FYI I saw seven copies of The Book on display at the Chapters/Indigo superstore in downtown Toronto this afternoon. Pretty impressive—you don’t usually see seven copies unless they expect to sell them quickly.

That’s pretty cool.  I have actually never seen a copy of The Book on display anywhere…

In writing the review, it did strike me as unlikely that such careful analysts would be at fault for the editing errors - and it’s good to get that confirmed.

On the subject of bookshops, I was in one of the largest ones in my corner of Britain yesterday looking for baseball books. I noticed Mike Shropshire’s “Last Real Season”, picked it up to have a flick through, cast my eyes back to the shelf to see what other baseball books there were in stock, and then realized that I was actually holding the entire baseball section between my first and second fingers.

This happens a lot in Britain. Still, the relatively small number of people who take the game seriously here take it seriously with a passion - and books like “The Book” help us to do this. So thank you.

Finally got my copy of The Book - got a call from Borders on my break. Haven’t had a chance to do much more than skim the Toolshed and the Appendix yet.
