Spotting Clutchiness, Chokiness
Indicators exist that can decipher which players have the fortitude to excel under pressure, says Roland Carlstedt, chairman of the New York-based American Board of Sport Psychology.
Athletes who are high in what he calls subliminal attention, or focus, can be derailed by stress if they’re also high in what he’s dubbed subliminal reactivity, or neuroticism. In other words, it’s possible to care too much.

Interesting stuff. There’s no doubt I’m a numbers guy, but the games are played by humans, and humans are affected by pressure.
