Selling beer to someone who looks under 30, is 22, and the legal age is 18
Skydome. Requiring someone to ask for ID of someone who “looks” under 30 seems to me like a pornography law: you know it when you see it. Aramark insists that their mystery shoppers “definitely” look under 30. But, this is an art, not a science. To that end, does it make sense to fire someone over art? I’d also like to know what would have happened had a policeman seen this transaction take place?
Great comments in the link. These are my two favorites:
The people protesting should be taking it up with the provincial government and the fines in place because a $200,000 fine for selling alcohol to a minor when an actual stock trader only gets fined $50,000 for intentional fraud that cause millions in damages makes little sense to me.
...
I am 22 years old btw. When I go to sporting events billboards and vendors scream at me to buy beer. When I go to purchase one sometimes I feel like I’m about to be cavity searched. The irony!

Indeed, how can anyone “definitely” look under 30? I look pretty young for my age, and I’ll be 30 in a couple years. When I am, I will attempt to find a store with a similar sign, and when they ask me for ID, I will say, I am 30, I look 30, I won’t show you my ID, now please serve me.
