Psst… wanna work for MLB.com?

By Tangotiger, 04:43 PM

Tell ‘em you “heard it from Tango”.  Don’t know if it’ll help, but it can’t hurt:

Stats Stringer Score MLB games from the press box.
Sports Reporter Cover live MLB games across the country as well as MLB news off the field.
Pitch f/x Operator Track every pitch for television, Internet and stadium video production.

Anyone know what the money is like?

Obviously a cool job, but probably not enough money to justify moving.

I believe the stats stringer gets $75 per game.  I don’t know what the numbers are for the other jobs, but probably similar.

I haven’t nearly the powers of concentration needed to be a stat stringer, but $75 a night to watch the Indians?  Does it get any better than that?  If I were 23…

Also, there’s a Pitch F/X operator listed for each team… could it be that we’ll have 30 park coverage next year?

Wasn’t there already full pitch f/x coverage this year? I thought there was and my db seems to think so.

If I fail to land a job with a minor league team maybe in a few weeks maybe I can snag one of these.

Yes, PITCHf/x was operational in all 30 major league stadia beginning in March 2008.  Sportvision went from seven stadia in the 2006 playoffs to nine stadia at the beginning of 2007 to 28 stadia at the end of 2007, but in 2008 they covered every game and nearly every pitch.
