If you build it, 75000 will come…

By Tangotiger, 01:49 PM

The history of outdoor hockey.

To the naysayers: if you don’t like a Radiohead concert, go see a Celine Dion concert.

To the enlightened: yes, you can have fun with Radiohead, Celine and Dora Live on Stage.  Hard to believe, but it is possible.

I hope plenty of non-hockey-diehards got to watch today.  It was a fun game all around - a fair amount of scoring, a little scrappyness, and some oddities.  Not two minutes into the game, a Red Wing got checked into - yes into - the Blackhawks bench.  The Wings bench changed for him because they only saw 3 skaters on the ice (they were on a penalty kill and so were a man down already).  The linesman helped the Wing back onto the ice, looked around and counted, and promptly called Too Many Men On The Ice.  Fun stuff.

As a Blackhawks fan, the outcome was disappointing but it was fun to watch with some friends at a local establishment.

It’s great to have hockey matter in Chicago again. I just hope it lasts.
