Google Trends
Google lets you track search words, by country, by time period. This is for Canada, where the search word HOCKEY stands out far above the other three sports, year-round. On the other hand, USA follows a very time-sensitive pattern. The Super Bowl and basketball’s March Madness seems to top the bill. You can put any words you want in there. Good waste of time.
For those of you who have used Google Trends: what would you change about it if you could? Can you imagine it being beneficial to any kind of research you’re doing? (I know it may not be terribly applicable to sabermetrics, but I know many of the folks here have varied interests and pursuits). How would you want to see the data? Or download it?
As someone who used to have a Canadian roommate, I found it informative to compare “color” and “colour” across the different regions of Canada (tried posting a link but it won’t let me submit with one).
