Forecasts and Steroids
Along the lines of something is better than nothing, just as MGL was nice enough to give us his notes on his pitching and fielding presentation, here you will find Andy’s presentation slides (only with IE browser), entitled: “Statistical Confirmations of Steroid Use?” You can also download the entire Powerpoint file (right-click, Save Link As).

Interesting that the BALCO folks tend to show more improvement than the rest of the cheaters. Is this because:
a) they used more PEDs?
b) they used steroids (which help) more than HGH (which doesn’t)? Or vice-versa?
c) it’s not what (drugs) you got, it’s how you use it (and BALCO trainers know how to use it)?
d) Barry is enough of an outlier to significantly move the mean of his whole group?
e) We know more accurately the periods where BALCO guys were on and off the juice, versus not having as detailed info on the usage of the others?
Too many questions. Very cool to see the slides though. Perhaps a guest blog post from Andy is in order? Actually, it should be his blog too, so he wouldn’t even be a guest!
