Fans Scouting Report: Update

By Tangotiger, 11:11 AM

http://tangotiger.net/scout/

A call to arms for these teams:

Arizona Diamondbacks
Chicago White Sox
Cleveland Indians
Florida Marlins
Houston Astros
Oakland Athletics
Pittsburgh Pirates
Washington Nationals

Overall, after a bit over two weeks, we’re at 89% of reaching last year’s totals.

Big kudos to Poz and Neyer, who together managed to send me over 2600 referrals yesterday, with over 15% of them turning in ballots.  I continue to believe that a Poz+Neyer+Bill James blog would be the awesomest thing ever.

Keep spreading the word!

You might need to contact some of the players’ family members to get more Pirates data, especially once football season starts. I can’t even watch them anymore.

Thank you Whitesox fans… you are now off the hook.

Pirates and A’s fan came in as well.  Just five more teams and we should be good.

Tango, thanks for conducting this, as alway.  I just noticed that the averages in the position tables don’t match the averages displayed on the team page and full list.  They former tends to be .1 to .2 higher among the players I looked at, though I did see one lower as well.

Not sure if this is an adjustment I wasn’t aware of, a back-end formula error, or just a timing issue with when those tables are getting updated.

Rick/4, if I remember right, the positions page averages include position-specific weightings (3B’s get a bonus for arm, 2B’s a bonus for range) on each of the skills.  The other pages do not.

Thanks Justin, that makes sense—and explains why Stubbs benefits so much from the adjustment given his foot speed and its importance for a CF.

Justin is correct.  I should note that on those pages.
